Testimonial for Hope of St. James
I was already certified through the AAPC but felt like I needed to further my career by being dual certified. I did not want to have to start at “square one” so I needed to find a place where I could take what I already knew, fill in some blanks in my past training and learn something new. A friend of mine told me about Hope of St. James where she did her training and became certified through AHIMA so I gave them a call.
Manny Santiago spoke with me on the phone and said he would be able to help me so I started attending classes on Saturdays so my regular “8 to 5” job was never interrupted.
All I can say is that it was an awesome experience! Everyone there had the same goal; to get certified, and everyone was very friendly and eager to help each other. Manny was very helpful and patient with all of his students. He would always answer all of our questions and he somehow found a way to give us all one on one attention. As we got closer to our exam date he would really start drilling us and working with us individually to make sure we were ready for the test and then just before the test I also got specialized help in how the exam was set up, how the computer system worked and basically what to expect. I have always been a horrible test taker but when test day finally arrived there were no surprises. I knew exactly what to expect and so I was able to stay “cool, calm and collected”, and actually found the test easy since I had been so thoroughly prepared.
In the year since my certification I am still getting help from Hope of St. James with continuing education needs. They have been there for me at every step of the way.

The academic system is very casual and light that one will never feel overwhelemed with the bulk of work that needs to be learned. HSJ is a school where all students are learning with confidence. Because of this,every student becomes supportive of each other and build lifetime friendships among each other. Some people ask me why I always go back to HSJ for reunions and parties and there's only one thing I always tell them... because Hope of St James is my home.
